ALEPH: [crying] Eema, I don't want to be a grownup.
EEMA: You're not a grownup.
ALEPH: [crying harder] I don't EVER want to be a grownup.
EEMA: Why not?
ALEPH: [sobbing full out] Because it's gonna be too hard to take care of the kids I'm gonna get.
EEMA: Wow. Uh... you have kids if you want to have kids, honey.
ALEPH: Do you think we can daven to Hashem to tell Him I don't want to have kids? Because I'm not sure He knows that.

Oh.
snif.
See, Miss M cannot WAIT to have kids. Because she is going to be the boss...and her rules look suspiciously like the inverse of all of our house rules. I really have to write these down and present them to her when she has a kid.
Oh, yeah. I know that one, too. My daughter Snuggly Girl is nine and once in a while she says sadly at bedtime "Is it hard to be a mom? Because you seem so tired all the time and I ask you to play and you give a big sigh."
I'm thinking I need to get that reflexive sigh under control. And go to bed earlier.
OTE, do it! Because my parents NEVER. GET. TIRED. of showing me the letter I wrote to my grandmother at age 9 stating emphatically that I would never ever get married. And I'm nearly 45 now. Good times ahead, good times.
Heh heh, last week she told me she was going to allow her kids to watch two hours of TV every day, but only one hour on Fridays. Shez doin it RONG, man.
I don't want to be a grownup either. It's too hard to take care of myself.
Hee.
Elba wants only ONE child. More than one child is just TOO MUCH WORK.
And all three kids want to hear, OFTEN, that having more than one child at a time is NOT TYPICAL. Because they are really worried about that: having more than one baby at a time. They do NOT want that.
Maybe Aleph and the Toddles should put their heads together? I think the Toddles is a leetle too unperturbed.
And I'm pretty sure that he's not getting the sangfroid from watching ME.
